UCSC is the largest Italian free academic Institution. The UCSC research unit participating in ClienFarms is the Department of Sustainable Crop Production (DIPROVES) and CITIMAP scarl. DIPROVES is represented by UCSC Field crops group lead by prof. Stefano Amaducci. The group has access to over 50ha of experimental agricultural research fields on carbon farming and regenerative agriculture solutions for perennial and annual cropping systems. The mission is 1) to deploy innovative and systemic farming solutions able to achieve sustainably fertility and climate goals and 2) develop robust and accurate methodologies to monitor, verify and report for C sequestration and soil health improvements. CITIMAP, a UCSC linked third parties, is a limited liability consortium company whose purpose is to promote and transfer technologies relating to remote and proximal sensing in agricultural sector.

UCSC will lead in WP1 the thematic area on “Crop and special crops”, in WP2 will run soil C model, fed by remote and proximal sensing data, to monitor, report and verify for soil organic carbon changes following the adoption of carbon farming practices. UCSC will coordinate an I3S in northern Italy based on regenerative practices applied to biogas and industrial tomato farming systems and will test the C removal platform to the industrial tomato value chain in WP4.
