The Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences (LSCE), created in 1998 is a joint research unit (UMR 8212) of the Alternative Energies and Atomic and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA), the French National Centre for Scientific Research , the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin , and the University of Paris-Saclay (UPS). The LSCE aims to understand past, present, and future dynamics of biogeochemical cycles and climate change using past environmental archives and models of different complexity. The LSCE is part of the ANR convergence institute CLAND which investigates management solutions for the ecological and energy transitions of the 21st century.

LSCE maintains and develops the ORCHIDEE land surface model for biogeochemical cycles which will be used to upscale scatter site observation and to project impact on greenhouse gas emissions and surface albedo in WP4. Further we contribute to the collection and analysis of data on crop yields, biomass production, albedo, and greenhouse gas emission of different land management measures in WP1.
