December farm visits
On the 5th and 6th of December, UK cereals I3S, organised visits to I3S partner farms, accompanied by insightful sessions focusing on soil health and biodiversity.
On December 5th, the group visited Tom Jewers’ farm in Suffolk, where they learned about his contributions to Hutchinson’s Helix Project and his participation in NestlĂ©’s LENs (Landscape Enterprise Networks) initiative. The subsequent visit on December 6th was to Richard Ling’s Rookery Farm in Suffolk. Richard is engaged in a trial with NestlĂ©, experimenting with a low-carbon fertilizer derived from factory cocoa-shell waste. The evaluation focuses on its impact on crop production, soil health, and greenhouse gas emissions.
